EXPERIENCE

Freelance Writer, 2017-present
Self-Employed

Currently, working as a contract search engine optimization content writer for DevDigital, a Nashville based web development company. Work includes writing SEO keyword blog posts for DevDigital client sites, including Nashville Armory, Wil Ro, LoJac, Windows, Walls, Floors, & Doors, Reiko, Vinnin Liquors, and Gately Air. Have also contributed to static pages on client sites.

Previous work has included web content for clients such as the Winchester Municipal Airport, Knowledge Nook Learning Center, Lay-N-Low Custom Baggers, Franklin County Fair, Barbara’s Classy Finds, and San Antonio Cyclery, now doing business as Fat Rick’s Bicycle Emporium. Most of this work included web design using Wix or GoDaddy website builders. Writing included SEO work which was improved using Google Analytics. Continue to build websites as needed for writing.

Other writing work has included writing monthly newsletters for the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce. These newsletters were based on interviews I conducted with Chamber members regarding businesses and events in Franklin County. Newsletters distributed to members of the Chamber’s email mailing list. I also briefly contributed to The Tullahoma News, a local newspaper. Contributions to the News included reporting, conducting interviews with local people and businesses, and doing research and fact checking.

Customer Experience Specialist, 2021-present
System76, Inc.

I have recently started as a Customer Experience Specialist with System76, a Denver, CO, based manufacturer of Linux computers. I have been a Linux user since college and for the past few years have used System76’s own Pop!_OS as my distribution of choice. Free and Open Source Software has always interested me, and I am proud to work for a company which serves as an alternative to Big Tech.

My job at System76 builds on my experience from Best Buy, providing excellent customer service over email and phone. I assist with orders, answer questions, process payments and refunds, create support tickets, and represent System76 on Reddit.

Computer Sales Consultant, 2019-2021
Best Buy Co., Inc.

I worked full-time for Best Buy as a sales consultant in computers. I helped customers make informed purchase decisions about computers and related accessories. When needed, I also helped out in home theater, appliances, mobile, and car electronics. I also assisted at customer service, where I provided coverage and resolved issues in person and over the phone. Occasionally, I came in early to count money, make deposits, and open the registers.

Honors Program Student Employee, 2017-2019
Saint Leo University Honors Program

Worked part-time as a federal work study student for the Honors Program, of which I was also a member. My main responsibility was recruiting prospective students and parents to the Honors Program in particular and to the University in general. I ran the Honors Program booth at campus events, distributing information and answering questions.

To promote the Program, I conducted interviews with graduating seniors where we discussed their experiences with the Program. I would then write Facebook posts based on these interviews.

I conducted research of similar academic programs at rival institutions and wrote recommendations on what Saint Leo could do to better compete and recruit the best prospective students who may have been considering other programs. Finally, I wrote and distributed surveys to both Program faculty and students to gain feedback on aspects of the Program they liked and what they felt could be improved.
